The first meeting of the National Working Group on Combating Desertification chaired by Seyed Javad Sadati Nejad, Minister of Agriculture Jahad and Head of the National Working Group on Combating Desertification, attending Massoud Mansour, Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO, representatives of member ministries and heads of the organizations and the media was held in the Ministry of Agriculture Jahad Headquarters on Saturday, 5^th December 2021.

According to FRWO's website, Minister of Agriculture Jahad and Head of the National Working Group on Combating Desertification, in this meeting said: "We need national determination to preserve of the water and soil resources of the country, because natural resources and water and soil belong to the people and the lives of the people depend on them."

He reiterated: "We should carry out the works and programmes of this working group with the cooperation of the people, non-governmental organizations and elites."

Pointing out that 4 years have passed since the formation of the working group, but today its first meeting was held, Sadati Nejad stated: "In the 13^th government, we should take the work more seriously to preserve fertile soil, environment and natural resources in order to preserve this precious treasure for future generations of this land".

"Natural resources are part of the lasting and intergenerational legacy and we strive to preserve these valuable resources to the best of our ability in the best way," he said.

"The Supreme Leader said  that the issue of soil is more important than the issue of water, and it takes many years for formation of fertile soil, so there is no substitute for this capital", Minister of Agriculture Jahad and Head of the National Working Group on Combating Desertification stressed.
